# Citizenship
My co-worker’s English husband became a citizen last night. I quipped that at least it would mean one person in her family would know the second verse of the national anthem, owing to the new examination on all things trivial.
no….they only sing one verse at the ceremony…and he had his interview and approval before the test came in…the ceremony just wasn’t until today. You will be pleased to note though that at the end of that one verse somebody in the audience yelled out Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, and there was a large cry back , even from our new citizens (if not from me) of Oi, Oi, Oi…surely thats more’aussie’ than knowing the second verse? Perhaps it should be the second verse?
Or rather, it should be the citizenship examination. Examiner yells “Aussie Aussie Aussie” and then gives marks on the response, based on knowing the correct syllable, the correct number of repeats and the amount of feeling in it.
Anyway. Go the French and the Argentinians!
