I think I only want this because a) It is so very geeky, and b) It is basically unavailable ✴Colonizing Space: Four Reasons Not to Give Up on Interstellar Travel

# Free at last.
I have left that job. Well, I was asked to leave at any rate. They were a bit surprised when I cheered as they fired me.
Yes, I was given the sack. That’s actually perfectly fine by me. I wanted to leave and have been on the verge of closing a deal to go to a new job anyway. In fact, one of the issues in the negotiations was exactly how soon I could start. I had jokingly suggested to various parties uninvolved in the negotiations that I was about 95% ready to commit near-criminal acts in order to persuade my erstwhile employers to let me go. Turns out being openly and unsubtly hostile towards a boy you have no respect for but technically has authority over you is just as effective.
On the plus side this way I can leave immediately and they are paying me to do so, to go away quietly. Yay.
Of course, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit to a certain rush of stress and worry when they asked me outside for “a little chat”. Fortunately it was followed up by a rush of amusement because they couldn’t even fire me properly, dribbling on and tripping over words. I almost felt like putting them out of their misery and asking for the letter of notice so I could get out of there.
Anyway. As I said a few days ago, it turns out that various parties did not know what they had until it was gone, namely me. They have since noticed that they seemed to have meandered up a brown and noisome water way and need some assistance getting out.
I am returning to GR for a short term contract until the end of February. I will be there to extract them from the crunch of over-promising and under-resourcing that I had warned them they were heading for.
After that, the project I had been working on at GR for sixteen or seventeen months is being taken in house by the client and I will be following it. They will be hiring me for at least the medium term to continue developing against it.
