D thoughtfully winnowed out the pictures that most make me look like a colossal dipshit.
That thing around my neck is made of a kind of nut, shells and leaves. It cost me $60 to bring back into the country; at first it was going to cost me half that but then the customs agent spotted the leaves – you know, the vivid green stuff that comprises about a third of the lei – and realised they couldn’t just spray the fucker to kill parasites, they had to irradiate it as well.
It arrived in the post on Monday after said irradiation. We are trying to refrain from making the lei angry now. We would not like the lei when it is angry.
